Accessibility information (Exeter)

Information for disabled applicants

The Accessibility Service is based within Student Services in Tremough Annexe. We contact all potential students who have declared a disability or special need, so that we can explore any learning support needs that you might have when you start your course.

What you should do next

Please fill in the Accessibility Questionnaire which can be downloaded here and give as much detail as possible.  Then, please email it to Accessibility@fxplus.ac.uk

If you have diagnostic evidence of your disability, medical condition or learning difficulty, please attach a copy.  We recommend that you encrypt any evidence you send to us via email using your date of birth (DD/MM/YY).

An Accessibility Adviser will then contact you to discuss any reasonable adjustments you may need. This information will be used to create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) which will be sent to your course team. Any information you provide to the Accessibility Service will only be shared with people who need to know in order to put support in place for you.  You can contact an Accessibility Advisor via Accessibility@fxplus.ac.uk  or 01326 370460.

Information on applying for the Disabled Students’ Allowances can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowances-dsas

Why inform us of your needs?

Sometimes we will have to make arrangements for your support before to you arrive. For example, if you need specific support and equipment to be in place when you start, or if you need adjustments to your accommodation. Any support you have previously received at college will not automatically be transferred to university.

If you submit the Accessibility Questionnaire after 31st July 2019 we cannot guarantee that support arrangements will be put in place for the start of your course. So, we encourage you to complete the form as soon as possible.

We look forward to receiving your completed Questionnaire. You are welcome to visit the campus at any time to discuss your particular needs with an Accessibility Adviser.

Accommodation

If you require accommodation adaptions, you will need to specify the support that you feel would be of benefit to you on the above Accessibility Questionnaire. We will then send a copy of the questionnaire to the Accommodation team.

Please note, you will need to complete the separate Accommodation Application process to apply for University managed accommodation. Further information can be found here: http://www.fxplus.ac.uk/accommodation.
